Summer Missions with Missionary Cenacle Volunteers are an opportunity for Catholics and others to live out their faith in service, to have fun and to grow closer to God! Programs range from 1-7 weeks between June and August, depending on the mission site. Volunteers are responsible for their own flight arrangements and travel costs. There are no other application fees or participation costs in our program. Volunteers are provided with meals and housing during service. Applicants must be 18 years or older.

2012 Summer Missions in Review
MCV selected 13 new and 17 returning volunteers to serve at Trinita’s Family Life Development Program in Connecticut this past summer. These 30 volunteers came from New York, California and everywhere in between! Both men and women served, and their ages ranged from 18 to 70+. New volunteers began Orientation Week on June 24, and they welcomed the first group of families on June 30, 2012. Each week throughout the summer, new groups of families from inner cities on the East Coast came to Trinita for faith, fun and family time.
Volunteers also came and went throughout the summer, with an average of 10 MCVs serving each week of the program. The final group of families departed on August 11, and volunteers helped clean up before heading home the next day. The theme at Trinita for 2012 was “Giver of Gifts.” Activities and lessons focused on the Sacraments as Jesus’ chosen way of gifting His life of Grace to us for all time.
Shawn Broussard (center, back row in photo) and her daughter Sydney served at the Family Retreat Weekend in Alabama in June 2012. This was the fourth annual family weekend at Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat in Alabama, and twelve families attended the program. Shawn and Sydney helped with games, crafts and lessons all based on the theme “The Lord is my Shepherd.”
Luchy De Jesus (far left in photo) served at Vacation Bible Schools at two parishes in Portmore, Jamaica from July 20 to August 7, 2012. Luchy worked alongside local volunteers to lead activities for children and teens. She also enjoyed learning about Jamaican culture and experiencing the celebration of both Jamaican national holidays (Emancipation Day August 1 and Independence Day August 6).
